The Fourth Tudor and Stuart Ireland Interdisciplinary Conference took place at the Iontas Building, NUI Maynooth, from Friday, 29 August, to Saturday, 30 August, 2014. Papers on the origins of the Stuart post office, women and society, Jacobite propaganda, Plantation Ulster, and warfare offered unique glimpses into Ireland’s early modern past.

This special two-part History Hub series was commissioned to mark 1000 years since the Battle of Clontarf. The videos, 1014: Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf and Commemorating Clontarf: 1014 through the Ages, were wholly funded by the UCD School of History and Archives.
In this post a video recording of a conference paper by Professor Mary E. Daly (UCD). The paper – The final years of the workhouse and its dissolution – was given as part of a Birr Historical Society conference on Birr Workhouse which took place in September 2013.
